Gurjapneet Singh, who recently played for India-A, joined the Tamil Nadu team only on the eve of the Ranji Trophy match against Uttarakhand and didn’t train on Saturday.

When asked about doing well in the India-A and Emerging Tours limited-overs opportunities, Gurjapneet stressed that he won’t be satisfied unless he dons the India cap. However, the left-arm pacer seamlessly shifted to red-ball cricket and hit his mark from the very first over, taking three wickets in his opening spell to help TN seize the initiative on day one. “That’s the main job, and that box is still empty.

“I was just trying to keep it normal and using the angles according to the pitch. I was understanding the batters… how they were reacting,” said Gurjapneet. I have to tick that,” he said.

Gurjapneet was recently with the National team as a net bowler, and felt bowling to top batters helped. “The thing is, you will get confidence when you bowl to good batters like Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli. When you then come to the Ranji Trophy, you will get a different kind of confidence,” he added.
